Mike Hampton Announces 2008 USAR Pro Cup Program

Mooresville, NC: Mike Hampton is pleased to announce that Eaton Corporation will be a major sponsor of the #31n Ford competing in the 2008 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern division and they are teaming up with David “Buggy” Pletcher and DLP Motorsports, Inc. The 22 year old driver stated from the DLP Motorsports race shop in Mooresville, NC, “My association with Eaton Corporation began in 2002 and I am honored and extremely proud to enter the seventh year of our marketing partnership. I had no idea when I first placed an Eaton Cutler-Hammer decal on my Allison Legacy car in 2002 that I would have the opportunity to participate in the USAR Pro Cup series. I am excited about the 2008 season and the opportunity to work with “Buggy” Pletcher. Anyone familiar with the USAR series knows that “Buggy” has successfully driven in this great series and as a team owner/crew chief, DLP Motorsports cars run up front. Also, the changes made to the schedule for 2008 are great for my sponsor, Eaton Corporation. A perfect example is the second North race at the Milwaukee Mile. This will allow Eaton’s Industrial Control Division team members located in Milwaukee to participate in an exciting USAR event. It is nice to have Jennerstown Speedway back on the schedule as this is close to Eaton’s Electrical Group headquarters located in Moon Township, PA. Also, Eaton Customers and Distributors really like Bristol Motor Speedway. This race will be a very special event since this is the final race of the Northern schedule and also a combination race with the South cars. In 2007, we participated in a record number of Eaton’s Electrical Group customer appreciation events at many Eaton distributor locations on the East Coast. Also, we participated in Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise and Orlando’s PRI with the Eaton’s Performance Products division. These events allowed us to showcase the latest in Detroit Locker® and Aeroquip® products. I feel working with “Buggy” during the past two months has taught me more than I have learned in several years of working on race cars; therefore, I am excited and ready to go racing in 2008!”

The first 2008 event for the #31 Ford sponsored by Eaton will be Wednesday, February 13th, at Jo-Kell in Jacksonville, Florida. Eaton customers will have the opportunity to talk with Mike about the upcoming race season and take a close look at the USAR Pro Cup car. Also, a lucky customer will win two tickets for the Daytona 500! This will be the third year that Mike’s car as been a part of this “Race into 2008” event.

The first 2008 race for the #31 Ford sponsored by Eaton will be Saturday, April 19th at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA. This track has great memories for Mike Hampton of Fort Mill, South Carolina. In 2004, the Allison Legacy National series raced three times at South Boston. Mike and his Eaton sponsored #21 record two wins and a second place finish in those three events. David Pletcher states “Everyone on the team is looking forward to 2008 and Mike is proving his determination with the long hours of hard work he is doing in the shop to prepare for the season. It will be great to be back at the track and talking with the race fans. I invite Eaton’s customers and employees to follow our progress by attending the USAR Pro Cup events and watching them on television and on-line at www.mikehamptonracing.com.”
