Miller Dealt A Tough Blow

by Skip Wall
Jr. Miller may be the King of Southern Modifieds, however he was dealt a bigger hand and blow by NASCAR officials at Fridays Whelen Southern Modified race at Ace Speedway.
Miller of Pine Hall NC was competing at the track in preparation of the Whelen Modified 150 presented by DMC Auto Exchange.
Just after practice NASCAR Southern Modified director Mark Suddreth examined Millers car (see picture) and found the car to be not in compliance to NASCAR rules.
In a statement from NASCAR officials it had been determined that two-time champion Junior Miller could not run in the event after unapproved parts were discovered on his car prior to qualifying, and he opted to load up his car and leave the track. Miller couldn't be found for comment.

However, sources say that the popular driver had illegal heads on his car. One team member that wished not to be identified stated that the team cracked a head in practice and couldn't start the event.

Miller is running on his own this season after vacating the Riggs Racing/Advance Auto Parts ride to reduce his racing schedule. Miller has 10 wins to his credit in the Southern Series.
