| Rain Cancels Super Cup Stock Car Series Event | By Skip Wall
If you live in the Carolinas, then your headed towards a ninth straight weekend that has had rain involved in canceling racing events.
That number now involves the State of Ohio and the Super Cup Stock Car Series.
Super Cup Stock Car Series Director Joe Schmaling and Columbus Speedway officials have canceled this weekends race scheduled 100 lap Super Cup Stock Car Series race in Columbus Ohio.
"We have decided to reschedule the race at Columbus for this weekend due to rain" says Schmaling.
"It is supposed to rain heavy all weekend in Ohio. The track operators and I feel a reschedule is the best thing."
Rain has hampered earlier events at Tri County and Newport already in this young season for the Super Cup.
One of the most important things is to keep the cost of racing under control since this is a new series and is all about the independent driver.
"With all the traveling that needs to be done and the cost fuel we thought it needed to be called in a timely manner" said Schmaling.
A rescheduled date has not yet been determined.
The series now moves to Callaway Va. where Franklin County Speedway plays host to the next 100 lap race on Saturday May 17th.

Young Ohio female driver Megan Rietenhour still holds a one point lead over Newport winner, Jim Crabtree Jr. in the points chase. Another Ohio driver, Ryan Miller finds himself and Larry Wilcox another two points back in the points chase headed into the Franklin County event. Wally Schweizer rounds out the top five, another five points behind.
The Super Cup Stock Car Series is a newly formed series using the steel bodied stock cars that were banned in the ProCup Series. The series is full of independent drivers that can now afford to run at a competitive level in these cars that were just sitting in garages since they were determined outdated. The series also has youth and female drivers. Young Ryan Miller won an exhibition race last year and Rietenhour won the season opener in March at Tri County.
The new series races at a fraction of the costs of running other racing series races. It has a board that calls most of the shots, that helps keep the cost of racing down.
