Super Cup Stock Car Series Revises Schedule

As most everyone knows by now, the May 3rd, Columbus, OH event was unfortunately cancelled as a result of a pending rain storm. At this time, a make-up date for this event has not been scheduled.

In addition, series officials have decided to cancel the originally scheduled June 6 and October 25th events at Tri-County Motor Speedway. The series and track promoters were unable to agree on insurance issues and the races were mutually cancelled.

The result of these events presented a unique opportunity for the Series to revise its remaining 2008 race schedule.

The Friday, June 6 event will be moved to Newport Motor Speedway on June 7th. “The series enjoyed its first event at Newport , TN and looks forward to returning on June 7 and October 4th for the remaining 2008 events. The Saturday date is more appealing to the series and our competitors”, replied Joe Schmaling.

To replace the event that was cancelled in OH, officials have committed to an event at Lonesome Pine Speedway on Saturday, August 2nd. According to Schmaling, “We are honored to race at Lonesome Pine Speedway. While we regret not getting to race at Columbus, this event is another quality facility for our series. Many of our teams and drivers have raced there in the past. It should be a great event.”

These changes along with the existing dates will comprise the 2008 schedule. With the October 25th cancellation, the series has one remaining open date for its final race of 2008. Officials are presently in contact with several facilities including Shenandoah, Motor Mile, Concord, and Hickory to determine where the 2008 series champion will be crowned!
