| Bowman Gray Driver Gets Suspension | DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 6, 2008) – NASCAR has penalized Jonathan Brown, a driver who competes in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, as a result of a rules infraction Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Brown was found to be in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; hitting another competitor’s car during a caution period) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book. The violation occurred during the Aug. 2 race.
As a result, Brown has been suspended from the next two NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour events, suspended from NASCAR until Sept. 3, 2008, and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31, 2008.
What this also means is that Brown will be ineligble to compete in the final two races at the weekly events at Bowman Gray since he ws suspended from NASCAR. Bowman Gray is a NASCAR sanctioned track.
The suspensiion is similar handed down to Chad Freeman of the Jr. Miller team, which Brown runs for the same team.
Freeman was suspended from NASCAR and wasnt able to go into the stadium for weekly events.
