| Todd Peck Picks Up First Career Victory | by Skip Wall It didn’t take long for young driver Todd Peck to start enjoying the the new Super Car Stock Car Series. In fact, it was only about three races before he picked up his first ever victory in a stock car. Peck of Glenville Pa. scored his first ever victory in the up and coming series this past Saturday at Ona Speedway in Ona WV. Not bad for a driver who qualified third, led the whole race and on a track that he never even raced on. “How sweet it is” said a jubilent Peck in victory lane. “This has been a long time coming” says the young winner who also has been racing in the NASCAR Camping World East Series this year. “I said before that this is a class series with its management and the fellowship of the drivers competing in this series” he said. Jimmie Crabtree Jr. who finished second, and a former winner himself this season, hounded Peck lap after lap in the 100 lap feature event for the Super Cup Stock Car Series. “I give him credit where credit is due” Crabtree said. “I raced him all over the place and just couldn’t get by him. He actually held his own.” Crabtree bumped Peck everywhere he could however it was young Ryan Miller who was putting pressure on the experienced driver of Crabtree for position that kept the field tight the whole race. Most drivers feared to pass on the outside because of the tightness of the track. Moreover the top five could have had a blanket throwed across them. Female sensation Megan Rietenour hung on for fourth spot while recent winner Joe “Hurricane” Harrison III held on for the fifth position. Harrison was racing in his home state and hometrack. After the race most of the drivers talked about how hard it was to past however they complemented each other for the clean driving that took place. There were only three cautions in the race and they were minor mishaps. But the racing was much keener on the track and kept the fans at bay as to who would fight for the lead. The biggest mishap occurred in the practice session when Chuck Buchanan crashed hard. He was able to make repairs and wound up finishing ninth out of the fourteen car field. Jake Keaton, the winner of the Young Gun Competition earlier this year made his first Super Cup start. He would have to pit during the race for brake problems and would come back in tenth place at the finish. He was happy with his finish and plans to race again soon. The Super Cup Stock Car Series is made up of former Hooters ProCup Cars that had the outlawed steel bodies. The race was sponsored by Heritage Truck Centers, a ProCup sponsor. Carl Hubbard one of the owners waived the green flag. They are the sponsor of Derrick Kale’s team. Reitenour will hang on to the points lead with only three events remaining on the series’ schedule. The next race for the Super Cup Stock Car Series comes up on Saturday September 13th at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway VA. The series ran there earlier this year with Daniel Johnson coming home the winner. Johnson is no longer competing for the championship however this is the track where Peck finished second at. Finishing Order of Heritage Truck Centers 100 1. Todd Peck, Glenville Pa 2. Jim Crabtree Jr., Muncie IN 3. Ryan Miller, South Charleston OH 4. Megan Rietenour, Miamisburg OH 5.
