| ASA Modified Tour on Display at Piedmont Expo | (King, NC): The American Speed Association sanctioned Southern Modified Race Tour will be on site on January 16 and 17 for Phillip Walker’s 23rd Annual Piedmont Racing Expo. The event will be held in the Exposition Center on the NC State Fairgrounds Complex in Raleigh, NC.
“This show is a highlight for the ASA / SMRT Modifieds this year” said Southern Modified Race Tour promoter, Randy Myers. “Phillip’s event is one of the best in the area and always has a lot of fans and teams on hand to check out the merchandise along with the different tracks and series displaying at the show. The mid-January date gives the tracks and traveling series time to put together their schedule for the new season. That allows everyone time to get printed material ready for the many fans attending”, Myers said.
The ASA / SMRT series will have the show car for the North-South Shootout on display at the show this year. The beautiful Modified is owned by C & C Racing Promotions, the promoters of the North-South Shootout. The “Shootout” is held annually at Concord Motorsport Park near Concord, NC and is the “premier” Modified race in the South. The 7th Annual “Shootout” featuring the “John Blewett III Memorial” is slated for November at CMP.
The ASA / SMRT series will also have schedule cards and brochures featuring the 2009 SMRT schedule along with some great photos on hand. So be sure to stop by the booth and get all the info on what promises to be a great 2009 season for Modified racing in the area.
